The mission of the Barn Quilts of the Boonslick Region is to promote and celebrate the unique agricultural experience of the region through the visual combination of barns vital to the economic well-being of the rural community and the comfort of homemade quilts that provided warmth, beauty and an outlet for individual expression.
Barn owners choose their patterns and colors. Members of the Boonslick Tourism Council copy each pattern onto two 8 ft. by 4 ft. pieces of commercial grade pre-primed aluminum purchased from a professional sign company. They paint the design using a high grade latex paint in the colors requested by the barn owner. The blocks are mounted on the barns in two pieces using a cherry picker.
Each barn owner is also given a sign listing the name of the block, the the owners and/or sponsors and the year and month that the block was placed on the barn. The sign also contains the Barn Quilts of America logo, designating the block as part of the national program.\
